Okaloosa Schools Closed Tuesday, April 5th
We have consulted with Okaloosa County Director of Public Safety Patrick Maddox while monitoring a line of severe weather that will affect Okaloosa County tomorrow, Tuesday, April 5th. Due to the potential of damaging high winds, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, large hail, and the storm's timing, the decision has been made to close schools in the best interests of the safety of students and staff.
All before and after school activities, including extracurricular activities, daycare, and tutoring, are canceled as well.
It has undoubtedly been a challenging month of weather in Northwest Florida. Adjustments to the school day due to severe weather disrupt our daily routines, and it would be expected for "weather fatigue" to set in. However, the alternative places too much risk on our students and staff.

Community Partnership and New Sign
Edwins Elementary School has joined Fort Walton Machining in a new partnership. This locally owned company will start bringing experts to campus next month to engage our 5th grade students in hands on activities to get them interested in the field of machining and engineering.
"Fort Walton Machining kicked off the partnership by donating a fabulous new sign to the school," said Principal Armstrong. "We would like to send out special thanks to the owner, Mr. McDonald, as well as the district staff that were able to attend. It was a special treat to have Superintendent Chambers in attendance for the big unveiling."
