  • Since the inception of the county-wide school construction, Mr. Walker has served as the Board's representative in overseeing the design, construction, and completion of approximately $90 million in physical improvements to 36 schools.
  • Rodney L. Walker is a lifelong educator with 30 years of service to the Okaloosa County School System.
  • He began his career in the 1960's as a guidance counselor at Choctawhatchee High School and held progressively responsible positions until retiring as Director of Student Services in 1994.
  • In 1994, Mr. Walker was elected to the Okaloosa County School Board. His fellow Board Members elected him Vice-chairman in November 1995. From November 1996 to the 2001-2002 school year, Mr. Walker served an unprecedented five consecutive years as the Chairman of the School Board.
  • Mr. Walker was educated in the public schools of Florida, and earned undergraduate degrees in social studies, psychology, and counseling. He holds a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and School Administration. He is certified by the State of Florida in school supervision and as a teacher of history and social studies.


Mr. Walker is the father of two sons, Rodney, Jr. and Chet, who are both graduates of the Okaloosa County School system.
