Coastal Fishing icon.pngThis summer our fishing competition, the CCA Florida STAR, has a total of $100,000 in scholarships that are available to youth just for catching fish.  From July 1 to October 4, CCA Florida hosts STAR, a family-friendly fishing competition that offers nearly $500,000 in prizes and scholarships. We would love to see your students, family and friends take advantage of the opportunities to win scholarships and other great prizes this summer.

The Youth Scholarship Division is open to kids ages 6 to 17 and offers two $25,000 scholarships and ten $5,000 scholarships plus honorable mentions for a total of more than $100,000 in winnings.

STAR is not only a great opportunity to win a scholarship but our Costa Kick Plastic Trash Division offers students an opportunity to complete those all-important community service hours while improving our coastal habitats! Each 5 gallon bucket of trash collected and submitted through the app is worth 30 minutes of service time.

The STAR competition is FREE for CCA Florida youth members (ages 6 to 17), and for those who need to become a member, youth membership is only $10!

From scholarship money, community service hours and dozens of other prizes, the STAR competition is a great summer activity that provides quality time together for kids and parents.  Summer plans have changed for many due to COVID-19, and STAR is a great way for participants to get outdoors, conserve our coastal resources and, first and foremost, have fun!

How can you learn more?  Each week, we air STAR Search, a show dedicated to STAR that features new information about the competition’s divisions, prizes and tips on how to succeed in the summer long competition. Week 3’s episode highlighted the Youth Scholarship Division presented by Academy Sports + Outdoors and included interviews from past winners, info on how to participate and discussed details about the scholarships only available to youth participants.
