Major Scott A. Bates is the Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Choctawhatchee High School in Ft. Walton Beach, FL.  He is responsible for developing citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.  He teaches aerospace science and leadership education curricula as well as serving as liaison between the Air Force and civilian agencies in the aerospace field.  He performs career and performance counseling for Air Force JROTC cadets. He helps plan and support activities like military balls, cadet competitions, cadet newspaper production, military ceremonies and charitable activities. He provides instruction in drill and ceremonies and in the principles of leadership and management.

 

Major Bates was born in Texarkana, TX in 1971. He graduated from Hope High School in Hope, AR in 1990, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 2000.  He received his commission through Officer Training School in September 2001.  He and his wife, Kendra, have twin boys, Zane and Riley while his daughter, Miranda lives in California.
