PSAT Announcement

With interruption of instruction due to Hurricane Sally, the added safety precautions needed to administer the PSAT to over 600 students on October 14th, we are postponing the October 14th administration of the PSAT for all 9th and 10th graders until January 26, 2021. More information will come as we near the end of the First Semester.

Please announce to all of your 11th grade ELA Classes for National Merit Scholarship

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a standardized test administered by the College Board and cosponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Both organizations are fully aware of the challenges that students, parents, and schools face in trying to administer a test to large groups. That is why they have offered a January 26, 2021 test to all students. Any junior wishing to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship can take the test on October 14 or wait and take the test on January 26, 2021.

At Choctaw High School we believe this flexibility offered by College Board and the National Merit Organization could benefit our juniors by giving them more time to prepare. Students may only take one test.  Any junior still wishing to take the test on October 14 may do so and will need to sign up in Guidance. The deadline for registration without paying a late fee has been extended until October 5. Juniors taking the PSAT on October 14 will be in small groups of no more than 20 students with desks spaced a part. Students will be encouraged to wear masks and desk barriers will be used.

All My School Online Juniors who wish to take the October 14th test

My School Online students will test in a separate location to address health and safety concerns.
