North County Schools Bus Schedules
The bus schedules for the North County schools (schools within the cities of Crestview, Baker, and Laurel Hill) can now be found by clicking on Infolocator. Eligible school zone, bus number, nearest bus stops, distance to stops, and times are all provided within Infolocator.
Infolocator is best viewed on a PC or tablet. Questions should be directed to the Crestview Transportation Office at 850.689.7301.
Please note: In some instances, Crestview High School or Davidson Middle School will show "No Transportation Found" for one or the other in the AM and PM. However, almost all Crestview High School buses north of Highway 90 share stops with Davidson Middle School and vice versa. Simply look at the run data and if it says, "AM xxxx DMS and CHS" then that is the current nearest stop for students attending either CHS or DMS.

Dear Parent/Guardian:
Happy New Year to you and your family! I hope you had a wonderful break and that 2022 brings you much joy and success in all that you do. As you know, students will return to school on Wednesday, January 5th, and I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you our thoughts on how we will begin the second semester in Okaloosa County Schools.
From the beginning, our goal has been to keep school operations as normal as possible with certain health and safety protocols in place. As we did this fall, we are committed to keeping face-to-face learning as the priority because we know that students overwhelmingly do better in that environment. We will continue to implement health and safety measures such as daily cleaning and spray-disinfecting our schools and buses, providing opportunities for proper handwashing throughout the day, continuing to be mindful of large group gatherings during the school day, and creating social distancing where possible. We have been tracking COVID-19 information from the Department of Health through December and continue to see low numbers of positive cases among our students and staff at this time, though some increase is predicted. We remain committed to posting numbers of positive COVID-19 cases on our website daily. Our current COVID-19 protocols are also available at www.okaloosaschools.com and remain the same as they were at the end of the first semester.
With student and staff health and safety in mind, please do not send your child to school if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 such as sore throat, runny nose, fever, loss of taste or smell, or fatigue. Symptomatic students should remain at home until they receive a negative test result for COVID-19 and are symptom-free for 24 hours. We will keep you informed of any guidance from the Florida Department of Education and Florida Department of Health on our website. Okaloosa County schools are currently adhering to the latest guidelines provided by these entities. In particular, it is important to remember from this fall that if your child is identified through contact tracing as a close contact to a positive COVID-19 case, you may allow your child to continue to attend school as long as they don’t have any symptoms. This was a very important adjustment made at the state level which allowed students who were well to continue to come to school.
For those who need testing, the District has established a testing site for students and staff at Central Baptist Church in Crestview on weekdays from 7:45 – 1:15. We are working with the Department of Health to reopen a second testing site in Niceville and will post information on our website as it becomes available. Your school may also have a number of take-home tests that can be used for students and staff. For other non-district test sites, please visit the DOH-Okaloosa website at www.floridahealthcovid19.gov.
Please contact your child’s school for any assistance that you may need. If the question is medical in nature, contact your child’s physician or the Okaloosa Department of Health.

COVID Protocol Updates
Effective 10/11/2021
· Schools shall allow parents or legal guardians the authority to choose how their child receives education after having direct contact with an individual that is positive for COVID- I9:
o Parents or legal guardians of students who are known to have been in direct contact with an individual who received a positive diagnostic test for COVID-19 may choose one of the following options:
§ Allow the student to attend school, school-sponsored activities, or be on school property, without restrictions or disparate treatment, so long as the student remains asymptomatic. OR
§ Quarantine the student for a period of time not to exceed seven days from the date of last direct contact with an individual that is positive for COVID-19.
o If a student becomes symptomatic following direct contact with an individual that has tested positive for COVID-19, or tests positive for COVID- I9, the procedures set forth in section (I) above shall apply
· Field trips will be permitted at this time. Wellness checks will be performed for students, employees, and parent chaperones prior to departure.
· Schools may resume normal indoor school activities and events.
· Each classroom has a supply of disinfectant wipes to be used as needed throughout the day.
· Parents will be permitted to come to school for parent conferences; virtual meetings may be available upon parent request.
· Wellness checks will be required for students or staff members who have been identified as a close contact to a positive case and are asymptomatic.
· Testing Site
o COVID-19 testing has been a challenge for many of our families in Okaloosa County. As a result, the Okaloosa County School District has partnered with the Department of Health to provide a COVID-19 testing site for both SYMPTOMATIC & ASYMPTOMATIC students, employees, and their family members.
o SYMPTOMATIC individuals will receive a rapid antigen test with results within 15 minutes. If there is a negative result, a PCR test will be administered.
o ASYMPTOMATIC individuals will receive a PCR test.
o Results for the PCR test will be sent via email and/or text usually within 24 hours.

General Information
Breakfast and lunches will continue to be free for all students this year. We still need your help/support as a Title I school by completing the Free and Reduced lunch application located on the OCSD website as soon as possible.
Breakfast is 7:00 AM, Classes take in at 7:15 AM, Instruction begins at 7:30 and Dismissal is 2:00 PM. It is imperative to a student’s educational success to be on time and at school daily.
Student Drop-Off/Pick-Up
· Students are not to be dropped off or picked up on the front lawn.
· Students that walk to school will walk to the crosswalk on North Lloyd in front of the school then walk across the grass to the crosswalk at the flagpole. At dismissal students will be walked across both crosswalks, students are not to run to their parents and parents are not to approach the students until they walk across the second crosswalk.
· Car ramp will be slow at first until staff learn the student with the car, they ride in. The first couple of weeks it could take 30 minutes or longer to load cars in the afternoon, we ask for your understanding and patience.
· You are welcome park and walk your child to class the first 4 days of school, August 10-13. After August 13 you will need to follow the arrival and dismissal procedures mentioned above.
Car Rider Tags
Parents are welcome to come by the front office July 28-August 6 between 8-1 and August 9 during Open House to pick up a car tag. Please only pick up a car tag if your child will be a car rider more than two days a week.

All visitors are required to report to the school office upon arriving at school.Whether you are here to visit, pick up a child, drop off a child, volunteer etc., the school will need some form of picture ID. Our check in/check out system for the students, volunteers, and visitors requires a Driver's License to be scanned.This policy is for the protection of the students. Hope to see you soon!
Student Checkout Procedures
Student checkout procedures have been changed to support our safety initiatives. An authorized adult will need to sign-in as a visitor using the Raptor System (must have valid ID) and receive a badge. Next the authorized adult will need to sign student out through the Raptor System, have secretary sign checkout slip, then the secretary will notify the teacher of the checkout. The authorized adult will then be allowed to go to the classroom to get student. The authorized adult will be required to return to the office to sign-out through the Raptor System. Thank you for your understanding of this change and future changes as we continue to improve school safety.

We are excited to announce that on April 5th, the Okaloosa County School District will begin using Bus Bulletin to send notifications to parents if there are unexpected delays or schedule changes involving your student’s bus.. We know that families are concerned about the safety of their students, and this notification system will keep you updated if there are delays in getting your student to and from school.

Don't Let Homelessness Stop Your Education
If you are staying temporarily with someone else because you had to leave your home, or staying in a motel, campground, shelter, or in an outside or inadequate place, you have special rights at your school(elementary, middle, and high school). For more information contact your school counselor or Title I/IX office 850-301-3008.
Those rights include:
- Staying in the same school even if you move, and receiving transportation to that school, as long as it is in your best interest
- Enrolling in school immediately without the documents schools usually require, and without a parent or guardian
- Receiving free school meals
- Getting help with school supplies, including what is needed to participate in distance learning and other needs

Paperless Report Cards
BSE has gone to paperless report cards. The report card will be available through the Parent Portal for those parents who want to print a copy of their student's report card from home.
Please use the following steps to access the report card:

3. Scroll down to Parent Portal and click
4. Click on Parent Portal
5. Log in using student number and last four of student number is the PIN
6. Click on Report Card under Options on left side
