Sharon Bartels-Wheeless, Named Florida Association of School Psychologists (FASP) 2019 School Psychologist of the Year

Sharon Bartels-Wheeless, was recognized at the January 13, 2020, School Board Meeting as the recipient of the 2019 School Psychologist of the Year selected by the Florida Association of School Psychologists (FASP).

Sharon is the District's Lead School Psychologist, supports school teams on MTSS, serves as the Teenage Parenting Program Coordinator, and has been instrumental in helping the district establish the Mental Health Program and writing the district’s mental health assistance allocation plan. She provides training and support to the District's new mental health providers in how mental health services fit into tiered system of supports.

Sharon is a leader in the district’s crisis response team and provides leadership, at all levels, to include organizing a response plan, meeting with school administration teams and teachers, and providing support for students at the school level. Sharon is an advocate for her profession and her school psychologist colleagues. She is a mentor to new school psychologists.
