Ready, set, go…Okaloosa County students participated in a bicycle safety event Saturday, March 2nd at Shalimar Elementary School.  Keith Oliver, Shalimar Elementary’s Physical Education Teacher, facilitated a bicycle safety class for students who ride their bike to school.  Not only does riding a bike establish healthy exercise habits, but also benefits a child’s learning development and mental health.

Okaloosa County School District is honored to have the support of so many community partners.  With support and donation of 26 bicycles from Toys for Tots/Bikes or Bust and JP Carducci, students received a FREE bicycle.  CrossFit Power Dome of Crestview donated a bicycle helmet to each child and volunteers from the University of West Florida provided free bicycle helmet fittings.

Pre-K students from Edwins Fine and Performing Arts school also received tricycles.
