Edge ES students participate in Walk to School day

Edge Elementary School participated in the “Walk to School Day” initiative on October 3, 2018.  Nearly 4,500 schools nationwide participated in the event this year including locations as far off as Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.

Although the “Walk to School Day” was nationally recognized this year on October 10, Edge Elementary School got a head start on the event. With community participation from the Niceville Police Department, the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the Edge Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students), and donations from the Edge Parent Teacher Organization, and Chick-fil-A, over 100 students, family members, and faculty walked through the neighborhood surrounding the school to begin their day.

“Walk to School Day” is coordinated by the National Center for Safe Routes to School and more info can be found at walkbiketoschool.org.
