PLA Executive Board Elections

New Executive Board oficers will be elected at the General Membership Meeting on May 18 at 1:00pm. Nominations for all Executive Baord positions are still being accepted. If you have a nominations, please contact Jolene Yen at plewplapresident@gmail.com

Medication Pick-up

If your child has medication in the PLEW clinic, it needs to be picked up BY A PARENT no later than Thursday, June 4 (the last day of school) by 1:30 pm. Any medication left will be destroyed beginning at 1:35 pm that day.

Academic Team

Plew Elementary School’s Academic Team placed 6th out of 106 national teams in the internet-based Thinking Cap Quiz Bowl.    Their win was in the America Answers competition that included 100 questions based on American history, geography, current events and trivia.  Team members had two chances to correctly answer each question with the opportunity to earn bonus points for speed and accuracy.  The  Academic  Team is coached by Michael Scrivner and includes; Kaine Barefoot, Joseph Buglewicz, Jack Cathell, Gianni Dragassakis , Xander Garland,  Ryley Gest, Garret McClay, Sasha Nunez, Sierrah Paul, London Taylor, Eric Trapp, Jillian Sewell, Isabella Sand, Karsten Richardson, Layk Roundtree and Lauren Von Eberstein.

AIAA Field Trip

Mrs. Russ' Rockets 3rd grade class were sponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) to tour the 20th Space Control Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base on  April 15th. The class participated in a mission brief on how the space radar functions, a tour of the equipment, and a live demonstration of tracking a satellite. This experience provided a real-world science application and inspired interest in STEM careers.
