Do not limit yourself to land.  If you have always been interested in working on marine engines and you enjoy the outdoors, make a splash with the Marine Service Technology program.  Students enrolled in the Marine Service Technology Program receive hands-on training and experience while performing maintenance and repair on inboard and outboard engines manufactured by Honda and Mercury Marine as well as other major manufacturers.

Marine Service Technology

Working directly on the marine engines, students learn to use the tools, equipment, materials, and processes found in the marine industry and are prepared for employment as machinery, marine engine, or outboard motor technicians

Classroom and practical experience with maintenance, repair, trouble-shooting, removal and reinstallation of marine engines and related equipment on pleasure boats and commercial crafts. The course content will include the following: service, repair and overhaul of two-stroke and four-stroke cycle engines and outboard motors, and service and repair of boating accessories.  This will include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, drive systems, and boat and trailer rigging.

Specific skills included are learning how to service, repair and overhaul two-stroke/four-stroke cycle marine engines and outboard motors.   Included in the curriculum are service and repair techniques of boating accessories.  The content will also include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling, lubrication systems, drive systems, as well as boat and trailer rigging. You can learn the skills required to enter the workplace as a marine technician.

Students can earn two Yamaha 5 Star certificates and four Bombardier (Johnson-Evinrude) Recreational Products E-ssentials certificates while attending this course.  Mercury University’s E-Skills programs are also available.

Industry Certification

Industry certifications are nationally recognized credentials that document your skills to employers. Earning an industry certification can provide students with employment opportunities upon graduation that may not be available to other students.
