Niceville HS Track and Field Wins $10,000 In POWERADE's "Power Your School" Program
The Niceville High School Track and Field program recently won a nationwide video contest sponsored by POWERADE in the “Power Your School” program. As the winning school, they will receive $10,000 to support their program. POWERADE is the sports drink of the Coca-Cola Company, and local representatives were on hand to deliver the good news and present the check.
The video below highlights the Pole Vault team, which has thrived recently under Coach Todd Brigman and even produced a state champion last year. “We are so fortunate to have such a talented group of individuals in our track family and our school,” said Brigman. “This entire process has been an honor to be a part of. These funds will help our program continue to grow.”
The award-winning video was filmed, produced, and edited by Ian Lovin and Keno Manuel, two recent graduates of Niceville High School who sharpened their skills in the CTE Digital Video Technology program taught by William Legarreta. “Ian and Kenny gave so much to this program with the amazing work they created,” said Legarreta. “We are so excited and proud to see them being able to showcase those skills in a successful team-based project!”

Principal Charlie Marello was especially proud to see one group of students use their skill set to support another program in need. “We are very thankful to the Coca-Cola Company. It takes a substantial amount of funding to continue to run the first-class athletic teams that we have here at Niceville High School. This award will allow the track and field teams, specifically the pole vault group, to focus not on fundraisers to buy equipment, but on being the best student-athletes they can be.”
